Young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed his conversation with head coach Rahul Dravid after being selected for the national team for the upcoming West Indies tour. Yashasvi Jaiswal mentioned that he received valuable tips and guidance regarding his batting from Rahul Dravid.

Yashasvi Jaiswal received his maiden call-up to the Indian Test team for the two-match Test series against the West Indies. Jaiswal’s consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL caught the attention of the selectors. The left-handed batter is expected to make his debut in the tour.

He Wished Me Luck After My Selection – Yashasvi Jaiswal

In an interview with The Times Of India, Yashasvi Jaiswal revealed that Rahul Dravid wished him luck after receiving the call-up from the national team.

“I got a message from Rahul Dravid sir. He wished me luck after my selection (for the India Test squad),” Yashasvi told TOI.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had the opportunity to learn from Rahul Dravid during his time at the NCA in Bangalore ahead of the 2020 U-19 World Cup. He was awarded Player of the Series in the 2020 U-19 World Cup after scoring 400 runs at an impressive average of 133.33.

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener said that the valuable batting tips he received from the former Indian captain had a positive impact on his batting performance.

“I have so many things that I discuss with Rahul sir. One of his many tips – ‘Watch the ball closely’ has helped me a lot,” he had told TOI earlier.

“One ball at a time – this is the mantra I have learnt from Rahul sir. He always says – ‘treat every ball as important.’ He has solutions for everything. He is a great mentor. Honestly, my game has improved a lot because of his guidance,” he further added.

The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on the West Indies in two-Test series between July 12 and 24. The two matches will be played in Dominica and Trinidad, respectively.
