India National Cricket Team batting legend Sunil Gavaskar has stated that Rohit Sharma & Co. will enter the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final as the favorites to win the championship.

The summit clash of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will see a high-voltage battle between the Rohit Sharma-led India National Cricket Team and Pat Cummins-led Australia National Cricket Team.

The two-time and five-time champions will lock horns with each other at the world’s largest cricket stadium – Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad – on Sunday, November 19.

India National Cricket Team entered the final after defeating the New Zealand National Cricket Team by 70 runs in the first semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Aussies, on the other hand, beat South Africa National Cricket Team by 3 wickets at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata to book a place in the final.

Definitely, the two best teams are playing in the final – Sunil Gavaskar

Speaking to India Today, Sunil Gavaskar said that the top two teams of the ongoing edition of the World Cup are playing the final.

“Definitely, the two best teams are playing in the final. India won all 9 matches in the group stage and then they won the semi-final in style as well. Australia stumbled at the start but they came back strongly to win some games from impossible positions,” said Gavaskar.

Sunil Gavaskar further said that although India will enter the match as favorites, the Aussies can never be written off.

“Yeah, India are certainly the favorites because of the way they have played. But the Australians can never be written off. We saw the way Glenn Maxwell played. The manner in which he played, he didn’t give up. The love for the country and the drive to try and win something for the country is something that you can never discount as far as the Australians are concerned,” Gavaskar added.

India will be heading into the match with a 10-match winning streak while Australia will enter the clash with an 8-match winning streak.
