India squad for Women's Asia Cup 2024 announced

The BCCI, on Saturday (July 6), announced the India squad for the forthcoming Women’s Asia Cup T20, 2024. The highly-awaited tournament is scheduled to be played from July 19 to 28 in Sri Lanka.
A total of 8 teams will be participating in the ninth edition of the Women's Asia Cup. India are the defending champions and will be looking to defend their title. In the last edition of the tournament, India had defeated Bangladesh in the final by 8 wickets to lift the title. They are the favorites for the upcoming edition as well and will be looking to live up to the expectations.
The other teams in the tournament are hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, and the United Arab Emirates. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian team is drawn in Group A along with Pakistan, Nepal, and UAE.
India squad for Women’s Asia Cup T20, 2024:
Harmanpreet Kaur will be leading the Indian team in the upcoming Women's Asia Cup T20, 2024. Richa Ghosh, who suffered a concussion during the first T20I against South Africa earlier this week, has also made it to the squad.
From the squad that is currently playing the three-match series against South Africa, two players have been axed - Amanjot Kaur and Shabnam Md Shakil. The rest of the squad is on the very expected lines. While Harmanpreet will be leading the team, opener Smriti Mandhana has been named as her deputy.
The selectors have also named four traveling reserves - Shweta Sehrawat, Saika Ishaque, Tanuja Kanwer, and Meghna Singh. India will be opening their campaign in the tournament on July 19 against Pakistan before taking on UAE and Nepal on July 21 and 23 respectively.
