On Tuesday, August 19, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced the squad of the India National Cricket Team for the Asia Cup 2025.

India squad for Asia Cup 2025 announced by BCCI
Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the T20 format, and fans will witness fast-paced action from September 9 to 28. India is the formal host of the Asia Cup 2025, but due to political and logistical reasons, the tournament will be held in the UAE.
A total of eight teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Hong Kong - will take part in the tournament, and the teams have been divided into two groups with a round-robin format being followed.
Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
Ahead of the squad announcement, there were a lot of debates about which players would make it to the T20I squad because of the presence of a large pool of talent in India, thanks to the IPL.
Even though India had a set T20I team that consistently won under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, several experts demanded changes in the squad, backing the selection of the players who were not in the setup due to various reasons.
The biggest names that became the talk of the town were Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Shami, Rinku Singh, and a few others.
However, the BCCI ended all the speculations and debates with the official squad announcement on Tuesday.
Shreyas Iyer has been snubbed from the squad along with Mohammed Siraj. Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma have been picked as the wicketkeeper-batsmen.
