India and Bangladesh are set to clash with each other in a Test series later this year. The India vs Bangladesh Test series will be played in September 2024. Bangladesh's tour of India 2024 will witness the battle between Asian Giants in two formats, Tests and T20Is.
The series will witness 2 Tests and 3 T20Is and there are no more ODIs to be played. The Tests series will take place at the start of the opening game on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The IND vs BAN 2nd Test will commence on September 27 in Kanpur's Green Park Stadium. Rohit Sharma is highly likely to lead India in the Test series. Under his guidance, selectors will form a strong squad for the side. Below is the India Test squad Bangladesh series (Predicted).
India Test squad for Bangladesh 2024
Openers- Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal
Rohit Sharma is the skipper of India in all three formats. Even though he might be the T20I captaincy after the ongoing ICC T20I World Cup 2024, he will remain the Test skipper. Sharma will be the powerful opener. He slammed 400 runs in the previous Test series.
Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal will be the other options for openers. Gill can also play at one-down since Kohli mostly plays at No.4 in Tests. Jaiswal showed a wonderful form in the previous Test series in England scoring a double ton.
The left-handed batsman finished as highest run-getter with 712 runs followed by Shubman Gill with 452 runs. The duo can also take the opening slots if Sharma becomes unavailable for any match.
Middle-Order Batters- Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan,
Sarfaraz Khan and Virat Kohli will be two crucial members of the middle order during the India vs Bangladesh Test series. Kohli was a fabulous performer in IPL 2024 winning the purple cap and has shown a wonderful form with the bat. Sarfaraz Khan showed a wonderful form in the previous Test series and he is likely to be inducted.
Wicketkeepers- Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul,
Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul would be the set of wicketkeepers for India in the IND vs BAN Test series. While Pant is the primary choice of wicketkeeper for India in the red-ball format, KL Rahul is the next best option in the longer formats. Both of them have played for India for the last few years.
All-Rounders- Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin are two gemstones for India in Tests, especially in home conditions. Both have the power to snatch victories from opposition teams with both bat and ball and are among the best Test all-rounders in international cricket.
Their left-right combination in spin attack confuses the batters and the 'Jaddu-Ashwin Jodi' always grab crucial wickets for the side. They both will demolish Bangladesh in the series with their spin attack and should be part of the all-rounders. They will play a key role in spin.
Spinners- Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel
Other than Ashwin-Jadeja, team India will need more spinners in the squad as the tournament takes place in India. Hence, Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar are highly likely to be part of the squad.
Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav got an 8-wicket haul in his last clash against Bangladesh. Moreover, he is now the most crucial full-time spinner for India for the longest format. Washington Sundar is another member of the same team.
Pacers- Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Mukesh Kumar
There is not much to talk about when we consider the pace attack for India in Tests. Ever since the popular trio Bumrah-Shami-Siraj helped Team India to win the epic Test clash vs England at Lord's in 2022, they have become the most prominent pacers for the side in the longest format.
While Bumrah and Shami played a superb knock towards the end in that Lord's encounter, Siraj grabbed 4 wickets in both innings to crush England's batters. They will also be part of the Test series against Bangladesh.
Notably, when India toured Bangladesh last year, they were about to lose their first-ever Test to the Asian friend. Therefore, selectors won't take any risk this time and send Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj to battle the Bangladesh Army.
Shami is currently under rehabilitation and also missed IPL 2024 and ICC T20 World Cup 2024. However, he will be fit by the time the India vs Bangladesh Test series starts. Jasprit Bumrah showed stunning form in the previous Test series against the Englishmen, getting 19 wickets to be the most successful pacer from both sides.
The next pacer in the series can be Mukesh Kumar, who has been part of the Test team since the commencement of the ICC World Test Championship 2024. Mukesh Kumar showed a wonderful form in his first-ever Test series against West Indies and was also part of the England series.
