Former England all-rounder, Andrew Flintoff takes a dig at legendary Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan with a tweet from the actor dating back to 2016 over Joe Root after the English skipper slammed a double hundred against India in Chennai.

Andrew Flintoff and Amitabh Bachchan were involved in social media banter during the 2016 T20 World Cup. After Virat Kohli’s brilliant match-winning knock against Australia propelling India in the semi-final, Flintoff took a sly dig at the Indian talisman tweeting ‘at this rate, Kohli will be as good as Root one day’.

Amitabh Bachchan, an ardent Indian cricket team fan, couldn’t stand the disrespect to India’s premier batsman and replied to Flintoff asking who is Joe Root, and India would ‘uproot’ Root.

Now, after Joe Root notched up his 5th Test double hundred – 3rd as a captain and 2nd in his last 3 Tests – the former all-rounder brought back the Indian actor’s tweet to the attention.

He quoted Bachchan’s tweet writing, “With the greatest respect, this aged well.”

The onus now lies on Virat Kohli to give Bollywood’s superstar a chance to hit back at Andrew Flintoff as England is 8 wickets down at stumps on Day 2 and India will bat on Day 3.

Virat Kohli is coming off a layoff after missing the last three Tests against Australia as he returned home to attend the birth of his child – Kohli and his wife, Anushka Sharma were blessed with a girl last month, they named her Vamika.

England finished the second day on the score of 555/8 – Joe Root’s double ton was supported by Dom Sibley’s enduring innings on Day 1 and Ben Stokes’s breezy knock on Day 2 put the visitors in a commanding – maybe unbeatable – position on close of play on Saturday.
