India had no answers to England’s stunning comeback in the second ODI and have levelled the series 1-1 with one game to go in the three-match series at Pune. England batsman smashed the Indian bowling to all parts and India needs to address a lot of issues before they go into the decider on March 29.

India started off very slowly in the early stages of the innings which hampered their final score and it wasn’t enough for the strong England batting lineup who is used to scoring more than 350 runs in ODI internationals now. England cruised to victory with six wickets in hand while Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes were the stars of the show. Here are 3 changes that team India needs to make to win the third ODI.

3 Changes That Team India Need To Make To Win The Third ODI:

Replace Kuldeep with Chahal:

Kuldeep Yadav did not have the best of outings in the first two ODIs and he was smashed to all parts of the ground specifically by England all-rounder Ben Stokes. Kuldeep hasn’t looked like getting any wickets in the middle overs and has also gone for plenty in the recent matches. He has still got the skipper’s backing but hasn’t gained any confidence rather from his last two games.

On the other hand, Chahal has been on the expensive side too but the positive side is that he has chipped in with wickets at times. Chahal was dropped from the T20 series after poor outings in the first three games and India decided to go in with Kuldeep in the ODI series. India will need Chahal desperately in the next game and Kuldeep might have to make way for him.

Bring An Additional Bowler As Hardik Pandya Is Not Bowling:

Hardik Pandya’s bowling in the T20 series against England was a big positive for India, but Virat Kohli was quite careful about not bowling Hardik in ODIs as he has come out from the injury after a long time. India went in with just five bowlers in the second ODI and paid the price for it as England took full advantage of the limited Indian bowling source.

Krunal Pandya cannot be the fifth bowler for India in ODIs and he is an all-rounder who should be able to chip in with few bowlers. If Hardik doesn’t bowl, then India needs to change the team balance as it gets affected majorly. An extra bowler is the need of the hour and India needs to bring in an additional bowler in place of another batsman.

Be Spot On With The Bowling Changes:

India needs to ensure that they are spot on with the bowling changes. The skipper Virat Kohli had to try out different ways to pick up wickets and use his main bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar very wisely in the upcoming game to be effective enough.

England had almost won the game when Virat Kohli turned to his quicks and the required run rate was nothing to panic for the England batsman.

India needed to pile up pressure on the England batsman by drying things up at one end and Kohli cannot be sticking with his spinner too long even on their off days. India conceded 20 sixes in the innings and the bowling group has to work in tandem to overcome the drawbacks.
