Indian batter Virat Kohli was voted the ICC Player of the Month for October 2022, the governing body of cricket announced on November 7, 2022. Kohli beat out competition from Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and South Africa’s David Miller.
Virat Kohli made a stupendous comeback to international cricket in the Asia Cup 2022 tournament after enduring an almost three-year run in which he didn’t score a single century in international cricket.
Kohli took a month-long break just before the Asia Cup tournament and returned back in style, scoring a century, his 71st international ton and his maiden T20I ton, against Afghanistan as he made 122* in 61 balls. This was his first three-figure in international cricket after 989 days.

Great Honor For Me To To Have Been Voted The ICC Men’s Player Of The Month For October: Virat Kohli
Meanwhile, it was the first time Virat Kohli won this award and he beat out the likes of Zimbabwe’s Sikandar Raza and South Africa’s David Miller for the honor. The 33-year-old batted in only four innings in October.
But one of those knocks was an all-time classic inning against Pakistan in India’s T20 World Cup 2022 tournament opener. When India was down and out at 31/4 chasing 160 to win, Kohli continued chipping at the runs and added 113 runs with Hardik Pandya.
He hit Haris Rauf for two sixes in the last two balls of the 19th over to bring down the equation from 28 runs off 8 balls to 16 needed off the last over. He hit another six off Mohammad Nawaz before India won the match on the last ball by 4 wickets.

“It is a great honour for me to have been voted the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for October. Being chosen as the standout player by fans across the globe as well as the panel makes this accolade even more special for me. I want to pay tribute to the other nominees who performed so well during the month and also to my teammates, who continue to support me to perform to the best of my ability,” Kohli said after winning the award.
Apart from these, Kohli also played an outstanding knock of 49* from just 28 deliveries against South Africa in Guwahati earlier in the month. He also scored an unbeaten 62 from 44 deliveries against the Netherlands in the T20 World Cup.
Thanks to his exploits, as he is the highest run-getter in the T20 world Cup 2022, India made it into the semi-finals and will face England in the second semi-final now in Adelaide on November 10.
