IPL 2026 auction: 5 new Signings with massive fitness concerns
5. Matt Henry
New Zealand pacer Matt Henry was one of the finest picks made by the Chennai Super Kings in this auction. Henry was bought for the massive price of INR 2 crores; however, he is always prone to injuries.
Henry has played previously in the IPL as well, and is still one of the most frequently injured players, as a result of which he missed international matches for his national side as well.
4. Matheesha Pathirana
The Sri Lankan pacer was bought for a massive price of INR 18 crores during the mini-auction by the Kolkata Knight Riders. He was the second costliest player in the mini-auction, yet he remains fragile for any side.
Pathirana, on the other hand, has often been injured during his short career and has hence been ruled out of the competition on multiple occasions. Pathirana's injury proneness, hence, made him a very weak investment, especially for the massive amount of money.
3. Anrich Nortje
South African pacer Anrich Nortje missed multiple seasons in the IPL. He missed almost the entire season for the Kolkata Knight Riders but came back to star in a handful of games in the IPL 2025.
Nortje was bought at his base price of INR 2 crores; however, the pacer recently returned to the international game during South Africa's tour of India in the shortest format of the game. He is one of the most injury-prone players in the IPL.
2. Wanindu Hasaranga
The Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was bought in the IPL auction for his base price of INR 2 crores by the Lucknow Super Giants. Hasaranga will be a very essential spinner in the side; however, he will be hampered by the injury scares.
Hasaranga, on the other hand, missed an entire season with the Royal Challengers Bangalore due to injury and missed several crucial games internationally as well.
1. Cameron Green
Cameron Green, the Australian all-rounder, went on to be the costliest-ever overseas player in the history of the IPL. Green went on to emerge as the best buy for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the season.
However, he recently made his return to the national side, following a surgery that ruled him out of the game for over a season. Green played the entire season of 2023 and 2024 for the Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, but then missed the entire season of 2025, only to return for the mini-auction.
