Delhi Capitals have informed that Axar Patel will be fit for playing in IPL 2021 in the next 3-4 days. Axar Patel, who is part of the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021, was affected by Covid-19 ahead of the tournament. Delhi Capitals also informed that their former skipper Shreyas Iyer is in constant touch with the DC players and coach Ricky Ponting.
Delhi Capitals suffered a big blow after their skipper Shreyas Iyer suffered a shoulder injury during India vs England ODI series last month.
The serious injury needed surgery due to which Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of IPL 2021. The franchise nominated wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant as the new skipper for the team in IPL 2021. Later, the team suffered another blow after spinner Axar Patel was tested positive for Covid-19.

While speaking to Sports Today, Delhi Capitals director Mustafa Ghouse gave a health update of Axar Patel. He informed that Axar is in the 10th day of his quarantine process and he will be back on the field in few days.
“Ya, Axar is better. Saturday will be day 10 of his quarantine process. Hopefully 3-4 more days, a couple of negative tests and he will be ready to join the team. We are running tests on him over the next few days to know how quickly we can get him back, available for selection,” Mustafa Ghouse said.
Axar Patel entered the Delhi Capitals hotel on March 28 with a negative report. However, his second report of Covid-19 came out positive. “He had checked into the team hotel in Mumbai on March 28 with a negative report. His report from the 2nd COVID test came positive. He is in isolation at a designated medical care facility,” Delhi Capitals had earlier informed through a statement.
Shreyas Iyer In Constant Touch With The Team
Talking about Shreyas Iyer, Mustafa Ghouse informed that he has got sensation back in his hand after the surgery. He also informed that Shreyas Iyer is in constant contact with Delhi Capitals’ players and coach Ricky Ponting.
“Shreyas is better. He has got sensation back in his hand which is the most important factor after the surgery. He is gutted that he is not part of the team. He is in constant touch with the boys and Ricky. All we have to do now is make sure that he is on the path of recovery and getting back to playing at the level he has been before,” he said.
Delhi Capitals will start their IPL 2021 journey on Saturday (April 10) with the match against Chennai Super Kings. The match will be played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
