Kolkata Knight Riders’ mentor David Hussey has said that there are few Australian players in IPL 2021 who are a bit nervous about whether they can get back into Australia due to the Covid-19 surge in India.

Recently, Rajasthan Royals’ pacer Andrew Tye left IPL 2021 mid-way and returned to his home country Australia over the fear of getting locked out of his own country. Royal Challengers Bangalore’s players Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson have also left IPL 2021 midway and returned to Australia citing personal reasons.

The rising cases of Covid-19 cases in India become a huge concern for everyone. The country is witnessing around 3 lakh new cases every day and the death toll due has also increased.

In the past 24 hours, about 3.5 lakh fresh cases of Covid-19 have arrived in the country while 2767 people have lost their lives. At present, there are more than 26 lakh active cases of Covid-19 in the country.

Few Other Australians Bit Nervous About Getting Back Into Australia: David Hussey

After few Australian cricketers who were part of IPL 2021 returned back to their home country, David Hussey revealed that few other Aussie cricketers are a bit nervous about whether they can get back to Australia.

“Everyone is sort of a bit nervous about whether they can get back into Australia. I dare say there will be a few other Australians a bit nervous about getting back into Australia,” David Hussey told PTI.

Hussey, who is also a former Australian cricketer, also said that they are stuck in the bubbles, but it is part of the precaution for everyone’s safety.

“We’re stuck in bubbles. It’s probably not too dissimilar to what all Victorians experienced last year in lockdown really. You get tested every second day. So it’s quite full-on but I think every precaution has been taken for everyone’s safety.”

Hussey also said that he feels they are lucky to play the game and entertain everyone in such a sensitive situation.

“It is on the radar. It’s on the news every minute of the day. You see people in hospital beds. It puts a lot of things in perspective. We actually discussed after the game last night, how lucky we are to play the game and try to entertain people around the world,” David Hussey further said.
