SunRisers Hyderabad head coach Trevor Bayliss revealed that swashbuckling opener David Warner was bitterly disappointed after having dropped from the playing 11, 24 hours after he was shockingly stripped from the leadership duties.

SunRisers Hyderabad made a tactical punt by dropping Warner for an all-rounder in Mohammad Nabi but the move backfired as the latter bowled just one over and conceded 21 runs before managing a 5-ball 17 as the 2016 champions slumped to a 55-run hammering against Rajasthan Royals.

“Like any player that gets dropped, he was disappointed, he was doing as much as he could as the 12th man for the team and the boys. he was cleaning up the bottles in the end, I noticed. he has been talking with Kane and the other boys,” said Trevor Bayliss during the post-match press conference as quoted by ANI.

Earlier in the day, SRH Director of Cricket, Tom Moody revealed that David Warner was “shocked” and “disappointed” on being sacked by the franchise midway through the season.

“He’s been pretty good. He was obviously shocked and disappointed…you know, you’ll be disappointed if he wasn’t feeling that way like any elite sportsman, they want to be playing, they want to be proving themselves and doing their best they possibly can for the team,” Tom Moody said.

Moody, however, added that David Warner has come to terms with the logic behind his axing as SRH captain.

On Sunday, Warner was seen doing the 12th man duties diligently during SRH’s encounter against the Royals.

“He [David Warner] has come to terms with the logic behind what we’re trying to achieve from a team’s perspective and a franchisee perspective. He’s been terrific since, and he’s rallied around the team. But more importantly, the team has rallied around him,” Tom Moody added.

David Warner’s axing and eventual ouster from the playing 11 has come as a huge shock for one and all.

His current struggles notwithstanding, David Warner was the cornerstone behind SRH’s success over the years.

The champion batsman led SRH to their only title in 2016 besides leading them to playoffs in every season. Warner won the Orange Cap in 2017 and 2019 and had scored more than 25 percent runs for his team.
