Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier testing positive for COVID-19 on Monday sent shockwaves throughout the Kolkata Knight Riders’ camp and IPL. The ongoing strain of COVID-19 outbreak that has ravaged India also penetrated the secure bubble of IPL 2021. Nevertheless, Kolkata Knight Riders’ CEO Venky Mysore has delivered an encouraging piece of news regarding the duo’s health.

Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier testing positive for COVID-19 forced the BCCI to postpone their clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore in Ahmedabad on Monday. The duo was sent into isolation, along with the players also separating themselves and quarantining themselves. The medical team has resorted to strict testing protocols now as they would carry it out daily to prevent any more positive instances.

Nevertheless, as some reports suggest, it emerged that Varun Chakravarthy had not breached the bio-secure environment. The leggie complained of abdominal pain and went to the designated health facility with the team doctor by following all the protocols. Also the staff, who treated Varun, a ward boy and technician, had already received two doses of vaccine and are showing no symptoms.

Venky Mysore asserted that both Varun and Sandeep are doing well as the franchise has taken all the possible precautions advised by the health officials. Mysore revealed that Sandeep Warrier has exhibited no symptoms as of now, while Varun is slightly under the weather. But they are both in good spirits and Venky is confident of them recovering.

Difficult times, but I’m happy to report that both Varun and Sandeep are doing well. We have taken all the precautions that are necessary and have been advised by the medical teams of IPL and KKR and also getting appropriate advice from outside on what the right thing to do is. Sandeep, in particular, is doing fine. No temperature, no other symptoms, and he is feeling good. Varun is still a little under the weather, but better than yesterday and both of them are in good spirits,” Mysore said as claimed by KKR’s official website.
