Delhi Capitals (DC) led by Rishabh Pant, completed a brilliant 8-wicket win over Kane Williamson’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The match took place on September 22, 2021, in Dubai and Kane Williamson won the toss and chose to bat first.

Sunrisers Hyderabad played Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson, Jason Holder, and David Warner as their four overseas players, while the Delhi Capitals played Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, and the South African duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje as their four overseas players.

SRH got off to the worse possible start, losing former captain David Warner for a duck to Anrich Nortje. Wriddhiman Saha and Kane Williamson fell for 18 runs apiece, while Manish Pandey made 17 and Kedar Jadhav made 3 runs.

A bit of recovery took place when Abdul Samad made 28 runs in 21 balls with 2 fours and a six, and Rashid Khan contributed 22 runs in 19 balls with 2 fours and one six as well, as DC conjured up 134/9 in 20 overs.

Anrich Nortje bowled fast and short, picking 2/12, while Kagiso Rabada took 3/37 in his four overs, Axar Patel managed 2/21, while Ravichandran Ashwin went wicketless for 22 runs in 2.5 overs.

Delhi Capitals has a bit of a similar start as Prithvi Shaw who looked good for his 11, got out to Kane Williamson off Khaleel Ahmed. But then Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer took charge and maintained a decent run rate in the chase. Dhawan made 42 in 37 balls with 6 fours and one six. And added 52 runs for the second wicket with former captain Shreyas Iyer.

After Dhawan fell to Rashid Khan, skipper Rishabh Pant walked in and began hitting the ball to all parts of the ground. While Iyer ensured no damage was done at the other end during his 41-ball 47* knock in which he hit 2 fours and 2 sixes; Pant was brutal with his willow as he made 35* in 21 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes as DC reached the target in 17.5 balls with 8 wickets in hand.

Such was the force with which Rishabh Pant was hitting the ball, that in trying to hoick Rashid Khan for a six, Pant lost the grip of his bat which flew into the leg side and was retrieved by his SRH counterpart Kane Williamson.
