As per BCCI’s current plans, IPL 2022 auction is set to take place on February 12 and 13 next month. Bengaluru is the venue of the auction. A total of 10 teams will be part of the IPL 2022 auction, as two new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad have been added to the tournament for the 2022 edition. As a result, IPL 2022 will be a 10-team tournament.

The old 8 teams have retained a total of 27 players in their squad for the next season. Out of these, there are 19 domestic players and 8 overseas players. The two new teams have to pick 3 players each from the draft of released players till January 22. Thereafter, the IPL 2022 mega auction will take place. Chris Gayle is the first player on the list. The left-handed batsman has many batting records to his name in the Indian Premier League. Although Chris Gayle is definitely is one of the most dangerous batsmen of all time in T20 cricket, his performance in the last few IPL seasons has seen a slump.

For instance, he could only play 7 games in IPL 2020 for Punjab Kings, scoring 288 runs. In IPL 2021, he managed to score only 193 runs in 10 innings. In the last 30 IPL games, the 42-year-old has slammed only 7 half-centuries. However, due to his lucrative IPL history, Gayle will gain the limelight during IPL 2022 auction.
