The Punjab Kings skipper has been in sensational form, of late. Many pundits have even labelled him as India’s current best T20 batsman. KL Rahul, for sure, will be the number one candidate in Punjab Kings’ retention list ahead of the mega auction.

Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal has complimented KL Rahul wonderfully at the top of the order. He has been sensational with the bat while opening the innings for the side. He aggregated 441 runs in 12 matches at an average of 40.09.

His four half-centuries in the tournament give you a glimpse of his consistency this year. PBKS wouldn’t want to make any change in the opening pair and thus would look to retain Mayank Agarwal in the mega-auctions 2022.

Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami exhibited a remarkable performance for the franchise in the second leg of IPL 2021. He was brilliant both in the powerplay as well as in death overs for the team.

His vast experience of playing at the biggest stages makes him an important player for the franchise. As far as bowling is concerned, Mohammed Shami is likely to be the first-choice as retention for Punjab.

Shami picked as many as 19 wickets in 14 matches in IPL 2021 at an average of 20.79.
