IPL 2023: "It Would Be Quite Tough To Pick Between..." - Aiden Markram On His Deputy For SRH

SRH management surprisingly has named Aiden Markram as the leader for the IPL 2023 edition. He had a terrific SA20 for Eastern SunRisers where the franchise won the maiden championship. Aiden Markram smashed 369 runs in the SA20 and at the same time, he took 11 wickets as he proved to be the ‘X’ factor for the team.

SRH hasn’t made it to the playoffs since the 2020 edition. In the the2022 season, they had a brilliant start but couldn’t capitalize on it. The SRH fans would be hoping that the burden of captaincy doesn’t affect Aiden Markam’s natural attacking game. All eyes would be on the new Head Coach Brian Lara where he would be tested.

Aiden Markram on Deputy

Aiden Markram was having an interaction with Hindustan Times and was asked about which player will he like to have as his deputy between Mayank Agarwal & Bhuveneshwar Kumar.

“That’s a tough one. I played under Mayank at the Kings. He and I got on really well. And if you look at the amount of experience someone like Bhuvi has, it is almost unreplaceable. So, to pick one would be difficult right now but I think both of them would nail it certainly,” said Aiden Markram.

Crucial Season for SRH

With the re-introduction of home & away venues in IPL 2023, SRH would be hoping that the team can make the most of home advantage. SRH should stick to Aiden Markram as frequent chopping changes disturb the team’s dynamics. SRH has got a terrific bowling line up but the batters aren’t performing in crucial stages of the match.

All eyes would be on Harry Brook which would be his maiden IPL stint. The right-handed batter has been a force to reckon with in all the 3 formats of the game. There are reports that state that England players won’t be present for the latter stages of the tournament which is a massive blow for SRH.
