BCCI has announced the schedule for the IPL 2024 auction. The IPL 2024 auction will take place next month on December 19 in Dubai. All the 10 franchises will engage in bidding wars to pick some powerful players into their squads.
Mumbai Indians is a strong team in IPL who has clinched 5 titles. In the last season, they finished in the third spot. The Rohit Sharma-led side faced some issues in the bowling department, due to which they shuffled many bowlers during the tournament.
Hence, Mumbai Indians will look to add some powerful bowlers to their squad during IPL 2024 auction. As a result, some players will also be released from the squad. Here we take a glance at 3 players Mumbai Indians can release ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.

3. Jofra Archer
Jofra Archer is the first player who can be part of Mumbai Indians’ retention list. Archer has been part of the franchise for the last two seasons. However, due to injuries, he has not managed to perform for the team.
The England pacer missed the entire 2022 season. In the 2023 season, the right-arm pacer featured in 5 matches. However, he could only pick 2 wickets and registered an economy of 9.50.
Archer has also not played for England for a long time due to his injuries. He is not a reliable pacer due to his injury issues. Mumbai Indians bought him for Rs. 8 crore and hence, he has become a liability for the team. The franchise might drop him from the squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction to grab a powerful pacer in their squad.

2. Riley Meredith
Riley Meredith is another pacer who can be shown doors by Mumbai Indians ahead of the 2024 auction. Riley Meredith played 5 matches for the team last season in which he got 7 wickets.
However, he turned out too costly at his economy of 10.52. The franchise also dropped him from the playing 11 from many games. Due to his poor show last season, Mumbai Indians might drop him from the squad ahead of the next season.

1. Chris Jordan
Chris Jordan was picked by Mumbai Indians last season to solve their issues in the pace department. However, Jordan could only pick 3 wickets across 6 matches. Leaking runs at an economy of 10.77, the England pacer became a liability for the team.
Due to his poor show last season, Jordan is another player who can be released by Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2024 auction.
