The preparations are on for the forthcoming IPL 2024 auction, which takes place on December 19 in Dubai. Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions of IPL 2024. The franchise will aim to defend their title in the next season. Hence, they will grab some lethal players during the IPL 2024 auction to strengthen their squad.

5. Mitchell Starc

Chennai Super Kings is short of experienced pacers and hence, they might go for pacers during IPL 2024 auction. Mitchell Starc has been back to Indian Premier League after a long time.

The right-arm pacer is one of the most dangerous pacers in international cricket. Starc was part of the Australian team that won the ICC World Cup 2023. The right-arm pacer will be among the most sought-after players during the auction and CSK will not leave any chance to grab him.

4. Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins is another pacer that CSK can target in IPL 2023. Cummins has proved his might of captaincy by leading Australia to the ICC World Cup 2023 title in India. Like Starc, he is also a pacer and gave a wonderful performance in the recent World Cup.

Cummins was not part of the previous season. He was a crucial player of Kolkata Knight Riders in the prior season. He is also a powerful tailender batter.

3. Chris Woakes

Ben Stokes has opted out of IPL 2024. Hence, CSK needs a powerful pace all-rounder to replace him. Chris Woakes is a brilliant option for the same. 2. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur has been dropped by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2024 auction. Thakur was part of Chennai Super Kings from IPL 2018 to 2021, during which CSK won 2 IPL titles.

Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur were a dangerous pair of pacers for CSK during that tenure. CSK will definitely look to bring back Thakur in their squad. They already have Deepak Chahar and bringing back Shardul Thakur will be a big boost for the team.

1. Wanindu Hasaranga

If we look at CSK’s current squad, they have only one full-time spinner in the form of Maheesh Theekshana. Players like Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, and Moeen Ali are spin all-rounders.

Moreover, Theekshana is an off-spinner and Chennai Super Kings do not have a powerful leg spinner in their squad. Hasaranga gave a wonderful performance in the 2021 season, getting 2026 wickets. Hence, they might target the Sri Lanka spinner during the auction.
