IPL 2024 Auction: "Pat Cummins > PSL Budget" - Twitter Reacts As Pacer Becomes Costliest IPL Player

Fans on X reacted after Australia pacer Pat Cummins became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The lanky pacer was acquired by SunrisersHyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL 2024 auction. 

The IPL 2024 auction is taking place at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena and the World Cup 2023 winning skipper shattered all the records in the history of the league. He became the most expensive player in history, surpassing Sam Curran, who was acquired for INR 18.5 crore by Punjab Kings (PBKS) last year. 

Pat Cummins was bought for INR 20.5 crore by the Sunrisers Hyderabad and his bid was nothing short of exceptional. As many as four teams in Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were interested in buying the Australian speedster. 

Mumbai Indians broke the bank for Pat Cummins and were involved in a bidding war with rivals Chennai Super Kings. The defending champions were interested till 7.60 crores before RCB and SRH got engaged in a high-intensity bidding that made many go berserk. 

RCB and SRH kept going till 20.5 crores before the latter fetched him for a big amount. When the bid for Pat Cummins crossed 20 crores, it invited huge applause in the auction room. It’s fair to say that SRH stole the gold as an Australian skipper could well be a game-changer ger for them in the next IPL. 

Pat Cummins has played 42 IPL games and has picked 45 wickets in the league with economy of over 8. Apart from this, he has been exceptional with the bat as well down the order. He has slammed 379 runs at a strike rate of over 152 to go with three half-centuries.
