IPL 2024 Auction: Rachin Ravindra Goes Gaga Over CSK Management After Being Added To Squad

Earning the reward for his magnificent performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, young New Zealand opener Rachin Ravindra was picked by IPL giants Chennai Super Kings in the 2024 mini-auction. Ravindra was picked for INR 1.80 crore by CSK and will join his other Kiwi mates such as Mitchell Santner and Devon Conway.

It was Chennai Super Kings, who opened in the bidding and started at a base price of INR 50 lakh, however, CSK was soon joined in by Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad, however, the ‘Men in Yellow’ had their priorities set, and were able to add Rachin Ravindra to their squad.

Rachin Ravindra was the fourth-highest run scorer in the 2023 ODI World Cup and scored 578 runs from 10 games which included a total of three centuries and two fifties. Ravindra was extremely delighted to join the five-time IPL champions and was excited to play under the leadership of MS Dhoni. CSK shared his video message on their official X handle. Ravindra said:

“It is an absolute privilege to be a part of such a solid franchise in the IPL. A team which has had so much success and who have had such amazing players to play for the team, so very excited to play for the team.”

“Also, I will be part of the IPL for the first time, obviously talked a lot with Kiwi boys who are already involved. They praise the intensity of the crowd and the fanfare that is all in the hype and surrounds is pretty-pretty special. Very very lucky and privileged to play in the same team, Santner, Devs (Devon Conway) are very close to me in the New Zealand team and Daryl is picked up by CSK too, extremely not just them but also the greats of the game, Dhoni, Jadeja, extremely-extremely grateful to be involved in such an amazing franchise.”

“Flem being the coach as well, that Kiwi connection is pretty cool. The Chennai fans, I am really excited to be a part of this team. CSK will be willing to defend their title and become the franchise with the most trophies in the cash-rich league. Currently, CSK is the joint most successful team with Mumbai Indians and has won five titles. Three of them have come after there from a two-year ban in 2018.

However, there is still no clarity over the captaincy of the franchise in the IPL 2024 as MS Dhoni is yet to confirm his availability. MSD went through knee surgery after the IPL 2023 final in Mumbai and is still undergoing the rehabilitation process.

MSD has been doing well in his fitness and is expected once again to captain the yellow franchise in the IPL 2024. Dhoni mentioned after the IPL 2023 final against Gujarat Titans that he will try his best to return in IPL 17 for the fans.
