Delhi Capitals is set to participate in the IPL 2024 auction. Capitals, who are yet to any trophy in Indian Premier League so far, will aim for their dream season in IPL 2024 by becoming the champions this time. The IPL 2024 auction is set to take place on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai.

A good piece of news for DC is that captain Rishabh Pant will return to the squad to lead the side in the 2024 season. Due to an injury in a car accident, Pant could not participate in the last season as he has remained out of the field throughout 2023.

Ahead of IPL 2024 auction, Delhi Capitals released 11 players from their squad. DC parted ways with some big names like Mustafizur Rahman, Phil Salt, Rilee Rossouw, and Rovman Powell. Notably, the franchise faced a poor show last season, finishing in the second-last 9th spot in the points table.

The IPL 2020 runners-up have also retained 19 players in their squad; including 4 overseas players. Hence, Rishabh Pant & Co. can induct 9 more players into their squad including 4 overseas players. Some prominent players that they retained are David Warner, Anrich Nortje, Ishan Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Marsh, Mukesh Kumar, Rishabh Pant, and Prithvi Shaw.

DC has never won any IPL trophy for the last 16 seasons. They reached the playoffs in many seasons but reached the final only once in 2020. However, they finished up as runners-up in IPL 2020 after losing the final to Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals has Rs. 28.95 crore left in their kitty. To retain 16 players, they have spent Rs. 71.02 crore out of a total salary cap of Rs. 100 crore. DC can grab 9 more players into their squad during the IPL 2024 auction. Out of these, only 4 members can be foreign players.
