The IPL 2008 champions have retained many strong players in their squad, most of whom became a part of the side during the previous mega auction in 2021. The franchise retained 16 players in their squad with the likes of Sanju Samson, Adam Zampa, Prasidh Krishna, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jos Buttler, Shimron Hetmyer, Trent Boult, and Yuzvendra Chahal among others.

RR released 9 players from their squad ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Jason Holder, Joe Root, and Obed Mccoy were the only big names that RR released from the team. Rajasthan Royals also made one trade ahead of the next season. They grabbed Avesh Khan from Lucknow Super Giants. In return, they traded Devdutt Padikkal to LSG. Hence, RR now has 17 players in their squad.

Since the team has retained Sanju Samson in the squad, he will lead the side for another season. Rajasthan Royals won the debut edition of IPL in the 2008 season. However, they never managed to win another title. In the 2021 season, they reached the final but ended as runners-up.
