The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have decided to trade Mayank Dagar to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in exchange for all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 auction, as per Cricbuzz.

The upcoming IPL auction will be a mini-auction and it is scheduled to be held on December 19 in Dubai. The BCCI has set November 26 as the deadline for the franchises to announce the list of retained and released players. Each team will have a purse of INR 100 crore this time around, which is an INR 5 crore increase from last season’s purse of INR 95 crore.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) performed decently in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 and finished at the 6th spot with 7 wins in 14 matches. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), on the other hand, finished in the last position on the points table with 4 wins in 14 matches.

The aforementioned franchises have decided to make changes to their squad to better their performance in the upcoming seasons and it has started with the trade of two all-rounders between them.

The 27-year-old all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed has been let go by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). He was acquired by the franchise for INR 2.4 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction. Overall, Shahbaz Ahmed has played 39 matches in his IPL career, scoring 321 runs and picking up 14 wickets. Following his IPL performances, he also got his India call-up.

Shahbaz will be representing Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and he will be replacing Mayank Dagar in the squad as the latter has been traded back to RCB.

Dagar, who is an all-rounder, was roped in by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for INR 1.8 crore at the IPL 2023 auction. He played 3 matches in his debut season and bagged one wicket.

Talking about some other trades at RCB and SRH, there are rumors of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) releasing Wanindu Hasaranga and Harshal Patel to free up their purse. Also, there are speculations that Sunrisers Hyderabad might release Harry Brook. However, some believe that the franchise could stick with the batting sensation as the upcoming five-match Test series in India would help the Englishman to adapt to Indian conditions and improve his performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
