Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Varun Chakravarthy has revealed how the franchise co-owner Shah Rukh Khan reacted after the team's embarrassing defeat against Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens last week.

KKR looked destined to win the game against the struggling team after posting a mammoth total 261/6 in the allotted 20 overs. Not many were expecting PBKS to even challenge KKR let alone chasing down 262, a feat that no team had achieved until that game.

However, the PBKS batters took KKR bowlers to the cleaners and chased down the total in less than 19 overs to pull off the biggest chase in the history of T20s. Jonny Bairstow scored a whirlwind century while Prabhsimran Singh and Shashank Singh smashed blazing fifties.

KKR bounce back in style:

After the crushing defeat against PBKS, KKR needed to show immense character against Delhi Capitals on Monday (April 29) and their bowlers did exactly that. Led by Varun Chakravarthy's 3-wicket haul, the two-time champions restricted DC to 153 for 9 in 20 overs.

Chakravarthy dismissed the dangerous Rishabh Pant, Tristan Stubbs and Kumar Kushagra to finish the game with impressive figures of 3 for 16. Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana also picked up two wickets each. With the bat, KKR chased down the total inside 17 overs thanks to Phil Salt's whirlwind fifty.

Varun Chakravarthy reveals Shah Rukh Khan's reaction:

After the impressive win over DC, Varun Chakravarthy revealed how Shah Rukh Khan reacted following the team's failure to defend 261. The spinner revealed that instead of showing any disappointment of displeasure, Shah Rukh Khan motivated the players.

"In the last game, after conceding so many runs, it was a tough pill to take but the whole team motivated us. Abhishek Nayar and even Shahrukh Khan came and spoke to me, definitely motivated us," Chakravarthy said.

Speaking further, Chakravarthy, who was also adjudged the Player of the Match, opened up on the pitch, saying:

"It (the pitch) was holding a bit, as the game progressed in the 2nd innings, it was turning as well. [on him having a good match-up against Pant] Nothing like that, when the catch was dropped, I felt that was a better ball, and the one I got him, on other grounds, it would have gone for a six. Cricket has become a game of fine margins," said Chakravarthy.

The win was KKR's sixth in ninth games. They are currently at the second spot in the IPL 2024 points table and are looking set to make it to the playoffs.
