The legendary cricketer did not let the knee injury affect his wicketkeeping or captaincy as he was at his best. As far as batting was concerned, he made limited appearances in the middle but still managed to leave a mark. And soon after the IPL ended, Dhoni went to Mumbai from Ahmedabad and consulted renowned sports orthopedic surgeon Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala. He later underwent surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital.

MS Dhoni on his knee injury:

MS Dhoni recently made his first public appearance since guiding Chennai Super Kings to the title in May. The former India skipper was in Chennai for the launch of the LGM trailer. Hundreds of fans were waiting for him at the airport to give him a warm reception.

And as Dhoni made his way out of the airport, one of the fans was heard asking the veteran cricketer about his knee. Just when Dhoni was walking past the fan, he was heard asking the cricketer: “Mahi bhai, how’s the knee?” Dhoni, however, did not give an update on his knee and just walked away after waving at the fans.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has confirmed that he would play at least one more season of the IPL. After the final in Ahmedabad, the CSK skipper admitted that bowing out of IPL after the win would have been a good option before stating that he would like to play in front of the Chennai crowd for one more season.

“If you circumstantially see, it’s the best time to announce retirement. The easy thing for me to say is thank you and retire. But the hard thing to do is to work hard for nine months and try to play one more IPL season. The body has to hold up. But the amount of love I have received from CSK fans, it would be a gift for them to play one more season.

“The way they’ve shown their love and emotion, it’s something I need to do for them. It’s the last part of my career. It started over here and full house was chanting my name. It was same thing in Chennai, but it will be good to come back and play whatever I can. The kind of cricket I play, they feel they can play that cricket. There’s nothing orthodox about it and I like to keep it simple,” Dhoni had said.
