IPL 2024: Yuzvendra Chahal Invites AB De Villiers In Rajasthan Royals To Play A Last Season
Former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) players, AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal caught up in a hilarious banter during an interaction on the former South African skipper’s YouTube channel. De Villiers and Chahal played most of their IPL career for RCB in the Indian Premier League (IPL). After the 2021 edition of the IPL, AB de Villiers retired from all forms of cricket and Chahal was also traded to Rajasthan Royals (RR).
“Do you think I have one more season in me? De Villiers asked. In reply, Chahal replied that the South African legend could join the leg-spinner at the Royals. “Yeah, definitely, you can come to Rajasthan now,” Chahal said.
“You know, I was playing with the kids in the nets yesterday and I picked up those small bats that came up to my knee. But I hit a couple in the middle of the bat and I felt, maybe I should hit a couple of balls and have a feel for it again,” De Villiers said. “Even at 50-60, you can hit sixes. There is no doubt,” Chahal added.

AB De Villiers And Yuzvendra Chahal Both Played Crucial Roles For RCB
Both Yuzvendra Chahal and AB de Villiers played crucial roles for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. Even after leaving the franchise two years ago, Chahal remains the all-time leading wicket-taker for RCB in the history of the tournament. In 113 matches, Yuzvendra Chahal took 139 wickets for RCB at an economy rate of 7.58 with two four-wicket hauls to his name.
AB de Villiers, on the other hand, played 157 matches in which he amassed 4522 runs, averaging 41.10 and a strike rate of 158.33. He also has two centuries and 37 half-centuries to show for his efforts. Both Chahal and De Villiers have their name etched in RCB’s history for the performances they have given and the moments they have been a part of.
AB de Villiers is likely to join RCB in the future in a managerial capacity and can still help in the franchise’s struggle to win its first-ever trophy. De Villiers recently revealed that he played the last few seasons of the IPL with a detached retina in his right eye and that eventually forced him to retire.
