The IPL 2025 opener will see two new captains leading their team for the first time in the league

The IPL 2025 opener will see two new captains leading their team for the first time in the league. While Royal Challengers Bengaluru appointed Rajat Patidar as the leader, Kolkata Knight Riders are yet to name their leader as they parted ways with Shreyas Iyer.

In the head-to-head battles between the two teams, Kolkata Knight Riders have been extremely dominant. They have won eight of their 12 matches at Eden Gardens. KKR are the defending champions after they won the last edition of the league quite dominantly.

Shreyas Iyer moved to Punjab Kings and will be working under the newly appointed head coach Ricky Ponting. The duo worked together in the IPL earlier as well for Delhi Capitals, and it was under him that the franchise marked their first appearance in the final in 2019.

Qualifier 1 and Eliminator will be taking place in Hyderabad, final to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata

The reports claimed that Punjab Kings will be playing three of their home matches in IPL 2025 in Dharamsala - one more than the usual two they play each season at the picturesque venue in Himachal Pradesh. The rest of their four remaining games will be played at Mullanpur in Punjab.
