The IPL 2024 finalists Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are set to retain their key players and go into the new season with the same core group. With the October 31st deadline for submitting the retention list looming, Hyderabad’s core team is expected to stay the same for the IPL 2025.
According to India Today reports, South Africa’s explosive wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, Australian captain and pacer Pat Cummins, Australian hard-hitter Travis Head, and the young Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma are the top players to be retained by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Heinrich Klaasen, Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Abhishek Sharma were the pillars of the Hyderabad team's journey to the IPL 2024 final, where they lost the title to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and all of them contributed to the team’s turnaround after years of struggles in the IPL.
In order to strengthen their Indian core, Hyderabad will also reportedly retain the young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. The 21-year-old has become a fast-rising star in Indian cricket after his impressive performances in the IPL 2024 and his T20I debut against Bangladesh at home.
Nitish Kumar Reddy was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for just INR 20 lakhs in the 2023 auction, but his value has now gone through the roof after his Player of the Match performance against Bangladesh for his stunning knock of 74 runs off 34 balls and taking 2 wickets in Delhi.

Reddy’s all-round abilities have often been compared with the star Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and he is now being looked at as a future star for both Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Indian cricket team. Heinrich Klaasen is set to be their top retention, ahead of even captain Pat Cummins.
Klaasen is known for his ability to destroy spinners, and his stock has gone up after his heroics for South Africa in the 2024 T20 World Cup as well as in the last IPL season. Under Pat Cummins’ leadership, the Hyderabad-based franchise had a remarkable turnaround and reached the finals for the first time since 2018.
The opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma were a big part of SRH’s success as they regularly set the tone with explosive starts and destroyed even the best of bowling attacks in the IPL 2024. With Klaasen and Reddy in the middle order, the Hyderabad team addressed the gaps that had haunted them in the past seasons.

Their partnership, along with Head’s consistency and Cummins’ tactical acumen, ensured SRH had the depth and firepower to compete with the best. As the retention deadline approaches, SRH are set to retain their title-winning core and be the team to watch out for in IPL 2025.
With the IPL 2025 mega auction around the corner and other teams trying to rebuild their squads, SRH’s decision to hold on to their core can give them an edge as they chase their second IPL title next year. However, the official confirmation is yet to be announced.
