However, former Australian and RCB all-rounder Dan Christian insisted that the IPL franchise doesn’t need to do anything different; rather, they must find a way to perform under pressure in knockout games in the tournament.

Christian noted that it is not that RCB lacks skill or preparation, saying they have always done excellent preparation, putting in hard work off the field, and have a star-studded lineup on paper like every successful team.

But, according to the former Australian all-rounder, RCB’s inability to convert these efforts into an IPL title triumph remained an irritating concern. Heading into the IPL 2025 season, Virat Kohli will undoubtedly remain the backbone of the team.

His leadership, experience, and sheer dominance with the bat are assets that RCB will continue to rely on. And Christian said that Kohli deserves to win the IPL trophy and insisted that the RCB is very close to winning the championship, but they must build a squad with the perfect balance of youth and experience, dynamic finishers, and dependable bowlers.

Dan Christian was quoted as saying by RevSportz on the sidelines of LLC 2024: “Look, I don't think they need to do too much different.

"They've always had a really strong squad on paper and unfortunately just haven't been able to quite get there. They do everything as well as any other successful team that I've ever played in, in terms of how hard they work off the field and their preparation, and they win games when it matters within the tournament.

"Unfortunately, they just haven't quite gotten there in terms of winning the big semifinals and the big finals. Look, they're close. They're really close. I think Virat deserves it. He's had such a wonderful career and been such a successful player and a brilliant captain for India and won trophies for India as well. I don't think they need to do too much differently. Just put together another good solid squad, and I'm sure they won't be far away.”

Dan Christian calls Virat Kohli a superstar

Kohli’s resurgence in the IPL 2024, where he unleashed his vintage batting style, including his famous slog sweeps and increased strike rate, hints at a more evolved version of himself in T20s. And the former Australian all-rounder has described Kohli as a superstar player who can lead the franchise to a long-awaited title triumph in the IPL.

Christian signed off by saying, “He's just a superstar player and one of our greatest ever players, and you've seen something.”
