IPL Auction 2025: Shubman Gill’s future decided as Gujarat Titans lock in 3 huge retentions

Gujarat Titans will be retaining three players ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. As per the reports in RevSportz, it is learned that the franchise will be retaining Shubman Gill, Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia ahead of the mega auction.

The reports claimed that Shubman Gill will be the first retention for the team and will be leading the team as well in the next edition of the league. Earlier, there were a few reports which claimed that the young batter is likely to enter the auction as the franchise isn't keen to make him the first retention.

Shubman Gill was appointed as the captain of the Gujarat Titans last year, and as a captain, he didn't have a great season. Under him, the franchise was unable to make it into the playoffs for the first time in the league. But as a batter, he has been top-notch for the team and is the leading run-getter for them.

Shubman Gill has been the backbone of the Gujarat Titans batting lineup ever since he joined the team in 2022. He notched up 482 runs in IPL 2022 and followed that up with his best season in IPL, slamming 890 runs. He had another 400+ plus season last year as he mustered 426 runs for the team in 12 games.

Rashid Khan to be second retention for the GT after Shubman Gill

On the other hand, Rashid Khan has been the best spinner in World cricket, and over the last three years, he has played a massive role for Gujarat Titans. He will be the second retention for the team although the price tag hasn't been revealed yet.

There were reports surrounding the move of Rashid Khan to other franchises as well. It was learned that the leg-spinner is in talks with Mumbai Indians, whom he plays for in the leagues around the world in SA20 and ILT20.

Rashid Khan, who was one of the draft picks for Gujarat Titans in the league in 2022, has taken 56 wickets for them in 45 matches with the best figures of 4/24. He also has taken a hat-trick for the team and has been handy for the team with the bat as well.

Rahul Tewatia to be the third retention for GT

The third retention for Gujarat Titans reportedly will be Rahul Tewatia. The all-rounder has been one of the biggest match-winners for the team. He has helped team win many games from the jaws of defeat and also was part of the leadership group in the last edition.

It might also be a possibility that Rahul Tewatia might b retained the buncapped category. He hasn't played for the Indian team and if he is with the team in this category, he will be retained under the price slab of INR 4 crore.

Rahul Tewatia was picked up by the Gujarat Titans for INR 9 crore at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. In the 93 games in the league, he has slammed 1013 runs for the team and also has taken 32 wickets in his career in the IPL.
