Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has taken a sly dig at Pakistan after their humiliating loss against India in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025. The marquee clash failed to live up to the expectations as India completely outplayed Pakistan and registered a seven-wicket win to storm into the Super 4s.

Pakistan was absolutely no match for the defending champions as the Suryakumar Yadav-led side dominated the game from start to end.

Pakistan thrashed by India

Hardik Pandya gave India a flying start by dismissing Saim Ayub for a duck on the very first legal delivery of the match, and the Asia Cup champions did not look back after that.

Pakistan managed a steady recovery and were on 45/2 at one stage before losing their next five wickets for just 38 runs.

They eventually huffed and puffed to a modest total of 127/9. Opener Sahibzada Farhan was the top-scorer for Pakistan, scoring 40 runs off 44 balls. Shaheen Afridi also played a crucial knock of 33* runs to help his side post a respectable total.

Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav steal the spotlight

For India, Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets while Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel claimed two wickets each.

With the bat, India chased down the total with utmost ease, crossing the finishing line inside 16 overs by losing three wickets.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav was the highest scorer for India, scoring an unbeaten 47, while Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma scored 31 runs each.

Irfan Pathan ridicules Pakistan

Following Pakistan's heavy loss against India, Irfan Pathan has highlighted the gulf in class between the two teams. The former cricketer said that even a domestic team from India could beat Pakistan.

"If you ask which of our domestic teams can beat Pakistan, I know for sure Mumbai can beat them. Punjab can beat them. Next, which IPL team can beat Pakistan? A lot of them," Irfan Pathan said on Sony Sports Network.

Former Mumbai all-rounder and India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar also echoed the same sentiments, saying that Pakistan could not challenge India at all.
