Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan has taken a dig at the Indian cricket team selectors and wrote a cryptic tweet on ‘X’. Pathan shared the first-class numbers of Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan and tweeted for the same on his official ‘X’ handle. Sarfaraz Khan has not been picked for the Indian cricket team despite his decent performance in domestic cricket.

It is believed that the major reason behind his negligence is his fitness and he is very slow on the field. Irfan Pathan shared the first-class record of Sarfaraz Khan on his official ‘X’ handle but didn’t mention his name in the tweet.

Irfan Pathan wrote in his tweet, “If you are him and not getting selected for test cricket, what are you thinking???.”

Sarfaraz Khan has played a total of 44 matches in his first-class career and has scored 3751 runs at an average of 68.20. His highest score has been 301* and has slammed 13 hundreds and 11 half-centuries. Sarfaraz is also a part of the India A squad against the England Lions, wherein he scored 55 runs in the second innings and showcased his decent form.

Sarfaraz Khan first showcased his talent during the Indian Premier League 2015 while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Sarfaraz played an unbeaten innings of 45* runs and played some brilliant shots during his stay at the crease. Sarfaraz showcased brilliant drives and many unorthodox shots such as the scoop, which also forced the then RCB captain Virat Kohli to bow down to him.

However, very soon Sarfaraz Khan was dropped from the team due to his chubby body structure. Sarfaraz was sloppy on the field, which became the major reason behind his exclusion from the team. However, Sarfaraz was not able to continue his magic after his inaugural edition and has only played 50 games wherein he has been able to score 585 runs.

Sarfaraz was not able to prove himself in the Indian Premier League but showcased immense form in domestic cricket for Mumbai. Sarfaraz has always been one of the top run scorers in almost every edition of the Ranji Trophy and has been one of the prime candidates to get picked for the Indian cricket team.

On the other, in the current Indian team setup, there has been a lot of competition for finding a place in the side. However, the Indian team has also dropped big names such as Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara in their side and have given a chance to many young players.

The India vs England Test series is very important from the perspective of the World Test Championship 2023-25. The Indian team have played the final of the WTC twice and will be aiming to do it once again and win the title.
