Ishan Kishan Called Up For ODI Series Against West Indies Amid Covid Cases In Camp - Reports
Left-handed batter Ishan Kishan, who was earlier a part of India’s T20I squad, now has been added to the Indian team’s ODI squad for series against West Indies, according to news agency PTI.
As many as seven members of the team tested positive ahead of the series that begins on February 6. Shikhar Dhawan, Ruturak Gaikwad, Navdeep Saini, Shreyas Iyer are the ones who have tested positive.
Mayank Agarwal has already been called up and it has now been reported that Kishan has been added as well. However, the Karnataka batter is undergoing isolation and will only be available on the first day of the game.
Right combination if Ishan Kishan opens with Rohit Sharma – Saba Karim
Former Indian cricketer Saba Karim believes that Kishan should be played at the top of the order with Rohit, who was his partner in the Mumbai Indians set up at the top.
“You don’t have options left as well as your squad has been severely depleted because of the players who have gotten infected. Because of that, I feel we will see a new approach.”
“This will be the right combination as well because if Ishan Kishan opens with R<!---->o<!---->h<!---->i<!---->t<!----> <!---->S<!---->h<!---->a<!---->r<!---->m<!---->a, the sort of character Ishan has, his strike rate is always high, which means he can take advantage of the powerplay,” Karim mentioned.
The fact that Kishan is a left-hander also befits the combination that India would have played if Dhawan was available.
