Sunrisers Hyderabad were given a taste of their own medicine during their second match of IPL 2025 against Lucknow Super Giants. SRH's bowlers failed miserably on a flat deck at Hyderabad, and it even prompted the skipper Pat Cummins to turn to Ishan Kishan to roll his arm over.

Cummins was clearly out of options after the hammering to his bowlers, including himself. As a result, he tossed up the ball to Ishan Kishan when LSG needed just 2 runs off the last four overs to win the game.

Kishan, who is usually a wicketkeeper and a top-order batter, bowled a gentle tossed-up delivery first up, and David Miller smashed the ball over covers for a four. There was a slight misfield in the deep, but LSG ensured to complete a comprehensive win.

Michael Vaughan on Ishan Kishan's bowling

During a conversation on Cricbuzz after the LSG defeated SRH, Michael Vaughan wondered whether Pat Cummins had seen something in Ishan Kishan that prompted the bowler to give him the ball.

The former England skipper also feels that the flat wickets in Hyderabad might not be enjoyable for their bowlers, and they might not want to bowl there.

"Maybe (Pat) Cummins has found something there (with Kishan). Maybe that is the way to go. By the time they play their fifth game at home, Ishan Kishan might have to bowl more, because the rest of the bowlers will be like 'I ain't bowling on that road'," said Vaughan.

Kishan didn't have a great day with the bat as he was dismissed for a golden duck. Shardul Thakur bowled a length delivery on the pads, and Kishan was unfortunately strangled down the leg-side.

Ishan Kishan's whirlwind knock against RR

Ishan Kishan came into this match on the back of a fantastic hundred on his SRH debut. He had scored an unbeaten 106 off 47 balls in their first game of the season and helped them win the match in a thumping fashion.

He struck 11 fours and 6 sixes during his knock. Usually an opener, Kishan has been given the No. 3 spot this season. However, he has looked comfortable with the bat and will be expected to score loads of runs in the upcoming matches.

Michael Vaughan slams SRH's one-dimensional approach

Further speaking in the panel, Michael Vaughan was highly critical of SRH's one-dimensional game strategy and feels that it might not help them win the tournament. He feels that SRH needed to be a little smarter, which could have enabled them to have a better first innings total.

"I'm just worried that the Sunrisers just play this one style of cricket, and it might not be possible all the time. Tonight, they fell short because they were ultra aggressive," Vaughan observed.

"If they were a little bit smart, they could have got 220-230, that's hindsight. I've not yet seen a team win a franchise league by just playing one style of cricket," the former England batter added.

SRH were reduced to 190-9 in 20 overs by some high-quality bowling from LSG. It was a much lower score considering the Sunrisers' reputation of putting big scores on the board, especially at home.

LSG chased down the total with 23 balls to spare, with Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh making vital contributions with the bat. Pooran continued his good form and smashed 70 off just 26 balls.
