Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat has expressed his dissatisfaction with not being selected in the Indian team for the 2021 tour of England. Notably, the India National Cricket Team was slated to take on England in a five-match Test series from August 04 to September 14.

The squad for the tour was announced earlier this year and Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat was left out of the squad even after having a great run in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy season. Being a swing bowler, the conditions would have greatly helped Unadkat in England, which could have marked his return to the Test setup.

Jaydev Unadkat Expresses His Disappointment

Now, Unadkat has opened up on his non-selection in the Indian squad for the England tour. Speaking exclusively to Cricketaddictor, Unadkat said, “It was disappointing to not get picked in the Indian squad. Honestly, I was expecting that I will get a call up somewhere or the other. Also because of COVID-19, the India A tours didn’t happen and it did play a part as well.”

“I am at that stage in my career where I am going to push the boundaries and keep believing for the best things to happen for me,” Jaydev Unadkat further added. Unadkat is currently with the Rajasthan Royals franchise, preparing for the 2nd Leg of IPL 2021 which is all set to start from September 19 in the UAE.

A Poor End To One Of The Greatest Test Outings

On the other hand, the Indian team’s tour of England ended in a manner no side would have wanted it to. The entire coaching staff of the Indian Cricket Team except for Vikram Rathour tested positive for COVID-19 in the 4th Test.

On the eve of the 5th and final Test, the team’s junior physio also tested positive for COVID-19 which left the Indian team with no option but to leave England without playing the final match of the series as a long season of cricket lies ahead. Now, the ECB has written to the ICC, demanding an outcome of the entire fiasco.
