Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur sustained an injury during the final of the T20I Tri-Series in East London on Thursday, February 2. It raised questions about her fitness just before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023. Harmanpreet provided an update on her injury and hoped to be fully fit for the marquee event.
India Women lost the final match to South Africa Women by five wickets. Kaur seemed to be struggling with her left shoulder and received medical attention from the team physio on a few occasions. Apart from receiving medical attention a couple of times, she was also seen leaving the field for some time as well.

“Body is fine. It will take two, three days and it will get better with rest,” the 33-year-old said during the post-match presentation.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will begin on February 10 with the hosts, South Africa taking on Sri Lanka in Newlands, Cape Town. Harmanpreet Kaur’s Team India will open their campaign by facing archrivals Pakistan on February 12. The final of the tournament will be held on February 26.

India managed to score 109 for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs after opting to bat first, and South Africa chased down the target with two overs to spare. Harmanpreet said the loss did not hurt her much as she feels Team India is playing solid cricket with the Women’s T20 World Cup approaching.
“Just have to enjoy yourself, whatever is the situation, that’s what we’ve been doing. Lot of positives before heading into the World Cup, we’ve come up with good performances except that we didn’t bat well today but the bowling did well. Keep doing the best things in the world up to do well.”
