"It's Incredible Playing Under Him" - Yashasvi Jaiswal On Suryakumar Yadav's Leadership

Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up about the playing under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav. Jaiswal said that he enjoys playing under him as the senior batter always motivates them and gives them the solution to everything going into the game.

The young Indian team have been playing under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav since the last two series. The senior batter has done a great job as he led from the front and powered his team to a series win against Australia and then drew the series against South Africa.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was the key factor for India in both series as he played with his aggressive approach and gave blistering starts to the team in almost every game. In the recently concluded third T20I against South Africa, he played a staggering innings of 60 runs and helped his team win.

Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up about the series win against South Africa. He mentioned that he was well prepared for the series and was focussing on what shots he could play and how he could build his innings.

He also talked about his experience of playing in South Africa and said that he enjoys pace on the ball. And also revealed about the conversation during his partnership with Suryakumar Yadav in the third T20I. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“It’s an amazing feeling to represent the country. I think in the second game I was prepared well but sometimes you try your best and it doesn’t go your way. I think I was preparing well for the game as the Tests are also there. I was thinking about what shots I can play and how I can build my innings. I need to make sure the tempo is high I’m playing all the shots and the run rate is also towards the target which he went. I just want to play how teams want to play.

“I love the pace and bounce in South African conditions. I’m happy to play here as I enjoy fast bowling. There was a turn as well and I tried to play a few sweep shots as well. Me and Suryakumar Yadav were having a good conversation in between and trying to play the situation. We were thinking about what shots we can play and where we can go. I think it’s incredible that Kuldeep Yadav got a fifer on his birthday and India won. We all surely will enjoy this moment with him.”

India posted a big total of 201 runs on the board, thanks to the ton by Suryakumar Yadav and fifty by Yashasvi Jaiswal. After that Kuldeep Yadav spun his web around the Proteas batter and picked 5/17 that helped his side bundle out the opposition for 95 runs and win the game by 106 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal also talked about his plans for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. He said that his job is to score runs and the rest is up to the selectors. The young batter also opened up about how Suryakumar Yadav motivates youngsters and gives solutions to the problems. He elaborated:

“When I play, I always think I perform well for the team and win game for my team. T20 World Cup 2024 is there in the back of the mind, preparations are going on. I just try to work on my things and the rest is up to the selectors. I’m glad to play alongside the legends of the game. We as a group try to focus on one game at a time because we never know what’s going to happen.

“So we make sure we are fully prepared for the upcoming game. I love playing under Suryakumar Yadav and the way he talks, he so calm and always motivates us. He always gives a solution which we can follow. It’s incredible playing under him.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal will now be seen in action during the Test series against South Africa. He will play a crucial role for the team in the series, starting 26th December.
