Samit Dravid, son of the iconic Indian cricketer and former Team India head coach Rahul Dravid, has been selected for the India Under-19 team.

The 18-year-old rising star is set to sport the Indian colors for the first time in a highly anticipated multi-format series against Australia Under-19 at home.

This milestone marks a significant chapter in the Dravid legacy, as Samit steps onto the same path that his father once dominated and became one of the all-time greats.

The young cricketer has been putting in tireless effort and dedication to earn a place in the national team for both one-day and four-day series against Australia Under-19 at home.

Samit Dravid’s selection has not only brought pride to the Dravid family but has also created a buzz among cricket fans. The upcoming series between India Under-19 and Australia Under-19, featuring three one-day matches and two four-day encounters, will take place in Puducherry and Chennai.

This series, starting on September 21, will provide Samit Dravid with a platform to showcase his skills on the international stage, under the watchful eyes of selectors and fans. As Samit Dravid prepares to carry forward the Dravid legacy, the youngster shared his reaction to the India Under-19 selection.

Junior Dravid has expressed his immense joy and gratitude for the support and well wishes he has received, saying he has done the hard work to see this moment. Well, all eyes will be on Samit as he aims to live up to the storied and legendary name he carries with him.

Samit Dravid said in a video shared by Star Sports Kannada on the social media platform X: “First of all, I am very happy to be selected and thank you for all your wishes. I think I am feeling great. I have worked very hard for this moment.”

Samit in action in Maharaja T20 Trophy

Meanwhile, Samit Dravid is currently representing the Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja T20 Trophy, but his performance has not been that impressive. In seven innings, the right-handed batter has amassed only 82 runs at an average of 11.71 and a strike rate of 113.88.

His best score in the tournament was a knock of 33 runs off 24 balls against the Gulbarga Mystics, studded with four boundaries and a six. However, Samit Dravid had an impressive campaign in the Cooch Behar Trophy 2023-24, where he emerged as Karnataka’s fourth-highest run scorer.

The all-rounder amassed 362 runs in 10 innings at an average of 36.20, including three half-centuries, with a top score of 98. Additionally, Samit proved his versatility by contributing with the ball, taking 16 wickets in 15 innings at an average of 19.31
