Veteran Bangladesh women’s cricketer Jahanara Alam has accused selector Manjurul Islam of mismanagement and bias after she was excluded from the squad that was announced for the ICC Commonwealth Games Qualifier 2022, starting January 18 in Malaysia. She wrote a letter to the Bangladesh Cricket Board expressing her disappointment on the matter.

However, if reports are to be believed Jaharana Alam was left out of the squad due to disciplinary issues after she misbehaved with the team management during the Women’s World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe. She is now a member of the stand by squad along with wicketkeeper Nuzhat Tasnia and off-break bowler Khadiza-Tul Kubra.

“Yes, we have received a letter from her (Jahanara) and will look into it and we will take required steps after taking everything into consideration. When a cricketer of Jahanara’s stature tells us anything naturally it will be taken seriously and we will try to find out the truth about her observation” said Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the BCB Chief Executive.

The BCB Chief executive has also said that he will look into the matter. Meanwhile, a senior BCB official has revealed the reason why Alam was excluded from the squad. He said that Alam was responsible for creating groups within the team and disrespecting the board’s decision of appointing Nigar Sultana Joty as the skipper of the team.
