Former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh has raised concerns about India’s World Test Championship squad that the BCCI announced a few days ago. BCCI’s 20-member squad contained all the regular names and had some startling omissions as well for the final against New Zealand and the five Tests against England. Dodda Ganesh was specifically unhappy about Jaydev Unadkat’s exclusion and the left-arm seamer has responded to the same.
Jaydev Unadkat made his first-class debut back in 2010 and donned the whites for India the first and only time the same year. The left-arm bowler got an opportunity against South Africa at the Centurion; however, he could pick up no wickets. He bowled 26 wicketless overs for 101 runs as India lost by an innings and 25 runs. But Unadkat has a compelling first-class record, taking 327 wickets in 89 games at 23.21.
He also topped the wicket-taking charts in the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy with 67 wickets in ten matches at 13.23 with seven five-wicket hauls and three ten-fers, alongside captaining Saurashtra to their maiden title. Hence, it prompted Dodda Ganesh to express his surprise at Jaydev Unadkat’s omission, questioning the selectors for ignoring him repeatedly.
Your concern motivates me even more: Jaydev Unadkat
Jaydev Unadkat, who was in action for the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021, took to his official Twitter handle and addressed Dodda Ganesh’s comments. The 29-year old said that Ganesh’s words motivates him to work harder and want the next Ranji Trophy season to come soon.
Your concern motivates me even more! Bring on the next season.. 💪🏼🔥
