England National Cricket Team’s fiery pace bowler Jofra Archer has made a bizarre statement on India National Cricket Team’s seven-wicket win in the first T20I match of the ongoing five-match T20I series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on January 22.

Even Jofra Archer sent a bold warning to the India National Cricket Team despite the England National Cricket Team being outplayed in every department at the Eden Gardens. The Barbados-born speedster shamelessly credited luck for the Men in Blue’s dominant victory in the first T20I in Kolkata.

After being asked to bat first, the England National Cricket Team had a forgetful day with the bat, as they could manage only 132 runs in their 20 overs thanks to captain Jos Buttler’s brilliant knock of 68 runs off 44 balls against India.

Varun Chakravarthy (3/23), Arshdeep Singh (2/17), and Axar Patel (2/22) rattled through the English batting line-up to set the stage for India’s dominance at Eden Gardens. Chasing the paltry target of 132 runs, Abhishek Sharma’s explosive knock of 79 runs off just 34 balls was enough to take the India National Cricket Team over the line with 43 balls and 7 wickets to spare.

With this win, the Men in Blue took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England. For England, only Jofra Archer could make an impact by taking two wickets for 21 runs in his four overs while the rest of the touring bowlers had a forgettable outing at the Eden Gardens.

In the next game they all go to hand, and they’re 40 for six: Jofra Archer warns Men in Blue ahead of 2nd T20I

Well, ahead of the second T20I in Chennai, Jofra Archer defended his England teammates by saying that the conditions favored him, but emphasized that the Indian batters were too lucky in the first game in Kolkata.

Furthermore, Archer has openly challenged the Indian batter by warning they will be 40/6 in the second T20I at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on January 25, as the England team is aiming to level the ongoing five-match T20I series.

Jofra Archer was quoted as saying by Daily Mail ahead of the Chennai clash: “I guess the conditions just favored me a little bit more than the other bowlers. The other bowlers bowled well, but the batters were extremely lucky. A few balls, well, a lot of balls, went up in the air but didn’t go to hand, and probably in the next game they all go to hand, and they’re 40 for six.”

We were just on the unlucky side of it: Jofra Archer

Meanwhile, Archer has stressed that it’s important to stay positive since such losses can happen in India when the batters start attacking right from the beginning. The star pacer explained, “It’s just important to keep the head up; this happens a lot in India, especially in the IPL. The batters go hard, the bowlers go hard, and we were just on the unlucky side of it.”

Archer signed off by saying, “You’ve always got to try in the beginning, because if you get them three or four down in the power play then usually teams bat differently in the middle. The only way you’re going to know is if you try. We gave it a try, it didn’t work, so we will try again next game.”
