Three players — Two from England, and one from Pakistan — have been included in the ICC Men’s Player of the Month shortlist for November 2022.

Adil Rashid (England):

Adil Rashid, who went wicketless in the first three games of the T20 World Cup’s Super 12, completely changed the course of the tournament in the final three games for England, contributing significantly to their championship win. He gave a standout performance as Player of the Match in the crucial Super 12 match against Sri Lanka, bowling a punishing spell of 4-0-16-1.

He dismissed the opposition’s star batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, in the semifinal match against India and produced another tight performance, allowing just 20 runs over the course of his four overs. His most significant performance, though, may have been in the championship game when he quickly and consecutively removed Mohammad Haris and Babar Azam to end Pakistan’s innings. He had a maiden in the big game and finished with 2/22.

Jos Buttler (England):

Jos Buttler’s most memorable moment of the month was leading his team to ICC Men’s T20 World Cup victory, but he also had a huge impact on their road thereby scoring an unbeaten 80 off 49 balls in the semifinal match against India.

With a knock that featured nine fours and three sixes and an unbroken opening stand with Alex Hales, England defeated India by 10 wickets to go to the T20 World Cup final.
Over the course of the four games he played, Jos Buttler scored a total of 207 runs in T20Is, including two fifty-plus scores, one each against India and New Zealand.

Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan):

With 11 wickets at an average of 14.09 and an economy rate of 6.15, Shaheen Afridi, who recently returned from injury, is leading Pakistan’s wicket-taking team at the T20 World Cup.

His best effort came against Bangladesh on the final day of the Super 12 phase, a match that needed to be won. The left-arm fast recorded 4/22 in a blistering four-over period, earning him the title of Player of the Match.
