Rajasthan Royals player Jos Buttler thinks that MS Dhoni has something to do with the breeding of wicket-keeper captains in the Indian Premier League. Buttler also believes that Ben Stokes will be an X-factor for Rajasthan Royals in this season. IPL 2021, which started on April 9, has four teams that have wicket-keepers as their skipper.

MS Dhoni (Chennai Super Kings), Sanju Samson (Rajasthan Royals), KL Rahul (Punjab Kings), and Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals) are the four wicket-keeper batsmen who are also leading their team in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. Jos Buttler, who is himself is a wicket-keeper, feels that MS Dhoni is the inspiration behind the emergence of wicket-keepers as skippers in IPL 2021.

Lots Of Players Want To Follow MS Dhoni’s Footsteps, Says Jos Buttler

In a conversation with PTI, English cricketer Jos Buttler said that MS Dhoni has been a fantastic captain and hence there are lots of players who want to follow in his footsteps.

“I am sure MSD (Dhoni) has something to do with the sixth sense and breeding of wicketkeepers who can captain. He obviously has been a fantastic captain and there are lots of players who want to follow his footsteps.

“I think a wicketkeeper has a brilliant view of the game. That can add to your decision making as you can see first-hand how the wicket is behaving and the way bowlers are bowling”, the 30-year-old Jos Buttler said.

Speaking about his own team Rajasthan Royals, Jos Buttler said that they have some world-class all-rounders and also believes that Ben Stokes will be X-factor for his team in IPL 2021.

“We have lots of variety in the team this season with some world-class all-rounder like Ben Stokes and Chris Morris and a new captain. Sanju (Samson) is a very exciting player and has a long affiliation with the franchisee.

“He is a very calm person and likes to have fun. I am sure he would try and get across that to the team. There will be a lot of passion in his leadership. I strongly believe Ben Stokes will be the X-factor for our team in this season,” Jos Buttler further added.

Rajasthan Royals had a very poor season last year after finishing on the last spot in the points table. Ahead of IPL 2021, the franchise released former skipper Steve Smith from the team and promoted Sanju Samson as the new skipper. Rajasthan Royals will start their IPL 2021 journey with the first match against Punjab Kings on April 12 (Monday).
