Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood was left furious after a mid-pitch collision with Bangladesh tailender Taskin Ahmed denied him a caught-and-bowled chance. Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy said in commentary that Hazlewood should have run through the batter to complete the catch.
Australia won the toss and opted to bowl on the opening day (Saturday, August 22) of the second Test at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. After suffering a historic nine-wicket defeat in the series opener in Darwin, the hosts bounced back strongly, bowling Bangladesh out for just 64 runs in 34 overs.
Josh Hazlewood Collides With Taskin Ahmed in Follow-Through
The moment came during the 28th over when Josh Hazlewood bowled a short delivery. Taskin Ahmed attempted a pull but top-edged the ball high into the air. Hazlewood ran forward to complete the catch, but Taskin moved down the pitch looking for a run and collided with the Australian pacer.
The collision prevented Hazlewood from completing a straightforward caught-and-bowled chance. The ball landed safely near backward short leg. Hazlewood immediately said, "you ran straight into me," to Taskin.

Australian captain Pat Cummins also spoke to umpire Nitin Menon at the non-striker's end to seek clarity on whether the incident could result in an obstructing-the-field dismissal. However, the umpires deemed the collision accidental, allowing Taskin to continue his innings.
Australian wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy also reacted to the incident on commentary. "Josh's from Bendemeer, from the country, run straight through him and take the catch," Healy said. "Run through him! He would have won that battle. Put him on his bum!"
Mitchell Starc Tears Through Bangladesh With Record Spell
Mitchell Starc produced the standout bowling performance of the innings. The left-arm pacer ripped through Bangladesh's top order and claimed five wickets in just 22 deliveries before finishing with figures of 6/12 from 10 overs.
Starc dismissed Shadman Islam for a golden duck with the first ball of the Test. The delivery moved late and caught the edge of Shadman's bat before Cameron Green completed the catch at gully. It was the fourth time Starc had taken a wicket with the opening ball of a men's Test.
The spell also took Starc past South African great Dale Steyn on the all-time Test wicket-takers list. His sixth wicket took his career tally to 440 Test wickets, moving him into the top 10 in the list.
Bangladesh Register Fourth-Lowest Test Total
Bangladesh struggled against Australia's pace attack and collapsed to 12/5 early in the innings. Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, and Litton Das all fell for ducks as Australia's quicks kept finding breakthroughs.
Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 64 in 34 overs, their fourth-lowest total in Test cricket. Shoriful Islam top-scored with 14, while he and Taijul Islam added 25 for the final wicket to take Bangladesh past their lowest-ever Test score of 43.
Starc finished with 6/12, while Pat Cummins took 3/25 and Hazlewood claimed the other wicket. The three Australian quicks dismantled Bangladesh's batting lineup in just 34 overs, giving the hosts a strong response after their nine-wicket defeat in the first Test in Darwin.
