Australian pace bowler Jhye Richardson lost his annual contract with Cricket Australia (CA). On Thursday, the CA announced a list of 20 players, who earned full-year contracts. Last year, the Australian board had handed contracts to only 17 players.

Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, Queensland skipper Usman Khawaja and pace bowler Scott Boland have been upgraded with their contracts in the recent season.

Josh Inglis gets his first contract with Cricket Australia

Australia wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis earned his maiden contract with Cricket Australia. Inglis has impressed in his debut international assignment when he scored 155 in five T20I games against Sri Lanka at a strike rate of 143.52

Travis Head, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Swepson have been included in the list after missing in the previous original list. The trio earned their contracts based on their individual performance in the 2021-22 season.

We believe this group provides us with great coverage and versatility across all formats: George Bailey

Meanwhile, Kane Richardson dropped from the list along with former Australian Test skipper Tim Paine, who is currently on indefinite leave after his ‘sexting controversy’ was revealed in the public domain. James Pattinson, who announced retirement from international cricket last year, was inevitably excluded from the contract list.

“It has been a terrific 12 months highlighted by the successes of the T20 World Cup, the Ashes and the Pakistan Test series. The performances by Mitch Marsh, Usman, Travis, Scott, Marcus and Mitch Swepson were pivotal in helping secure those successes and we are pleased they have retained their contracts for the upcoming year after being rewarded with upgrades throughout the past season,” Australian national team selector George Bailey said.

“We believe this group provide us great coverage and versatility across all formats while others, as we saw in the past year, will continue to get opportunities to play a big part. With a tour of Sri Lanka, a home World Cup, home summer and a tour of India there is an enormous amount of cricket to be played where the strength of our squads and depth will be challenged,” Bailey added.
