Kamran Akmal Opts Out Of PSL 7 After Being Picked By Peshawar Zalmi In Silver Category

Veteran Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal has decided not to play the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven for Peshawar Zalmi after being picked in the silver category.

Speaking on his YouTube channel (Catch and bat with Kamran Akmal) he said that he doesn’t deserve to play in the silver category and requested the franchise to release him. He said:

The 39-year-old feels that the lower categories are for young inexperienced players and he doesn’t want any sympathy from Peshawar Zalmi. He said:

“The lower categories are better suited for youngsters. I don’t want their [Peshawar Zalmi] sympathy just because I have played for them in the past six seasons.”

I Was Very Surprised To See My Category Demotion From Platinum To Gold – Kamran Akmal

“As far as the category is concerned, I was not happy when it was initially announced. I was very surprised to see my category demotion from Platinum to Gold despite my good track record.”

Akmal added that he had loved to play for the Peshawar Zalmi franchise and lauded the team’s management. He said:

“I have loved playing for Peshawar Zalmi. They have great management and bunch of players.”

Notably, PSL teams have finalised their squads for season 7 in the recently concluded draft and the brother of Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal has made a comeback in Pakistan Super League and he has been included in team Quetta Gladiators in the silver category
