The defending champions of IPL 2025, Kolkata Knight Riders, have finalized their list of retained players for IPL Auction 2025. All the franchises had to submit the list by October 31- the deadline set by BCCI.

The IPL Auction 2025 is a mega auction, hence, all the teams can retain only six players in their squad. These retentions can be through direct retentions or Right to Match (RTM) cards.

Out of these six players, a team can retain a maximum of 5 capped players and 2 uncapped players. The price distribution for the five uncapped players is Rs. 18 crore, Rs. 14 crore, Rs. 11 crore, Rs. 18 crore, and Rs. 14 crore. The total amount should not exceed Rs. 75 crore.

Like every season, the IPL governing council has also increased the total salary purse of each IPL franchise. Every franchise will have a salary purse of Rs. 120 crore in IPL Auction 2025.

Kolkata Knight Riders won their 3rd IPL title last season

Kolkata Knight Riders showed an impeccable performance last season to win their third IPL title. Now, they are the most successful franchise after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, both of whom have five titles each.

KKR finished in the top spot in the season by winning 9 games and losing only 3 out of 14 during the league stage. Two games ended with no result due to rain. With 20 points, KKR stole the peak position and later crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Qualifier 1 and final to capture the trophy.

KKR players showed magnificent teamwork last season

Unlike some other teams, there were many outstanding performers for Kolkata Knight Riders in their journey to the trophy last season. Batters like Phil Salt (435) and Sunil Narine (488) slammed the most runs as opener.

Venkatesh Iyer (370) and skipper Shreyas Iyer (351) also lent a crucial hand in the batting department. Andre Russell added 222 runs across 9 innings at 185 strike rate to dominate the lower order.

Among bowlers, Varun Chakravarthy picked the most 21 wickets, finishing as the second-highest wicket-taker in the season.

Harshit Rana (19 wickets), Andre Russell (19 wickets), Sunil Narine (17 wickets), and Mitchell Starc (17 wickets) showed magnificent teamwork to drive the team to the title.

However, this is also a big cause of worry for the franchise now. Since there were many outstanding performers for the side last season, they had the challenging task of picking the best players during the IPL Auction 2025. However, they have finally come up with their retention list, and below are the names.
