Delhi Capitals all-rounder Axar Patel is keeping his team in the game with the ball in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The 47th game of the tournament between the teams is taking place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

After a poor batting performance with the bat, Delhi Capitals are giving their everything with the ball. In the start, they came under pressure as Sunil Narine and Phil Salt took the bowlers to the cleaners but it was Axar Patel, who brought Delhi Capitals back in the game at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Axar Patel first removed Sunil Narine and if this was not enough, he then went on to remove Phil Salt. The all-rounder produced a magnificent delivery to remove the dangerous England batter, who was looking to hit every ball out of the park at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Axar Patel bowled a flat arm ball that curved back in from length. Phil Salt got beaten for the pace as he attempted to slash the ball. The ball went on to hit the off-stump in a flash as the batter had to take the long walk back to the pavilion.

Here's the video:

Phil Salt played a vital hand for his team in the chase. He set the tone for his side and made sure that they started off pretty well. The keeper-batter ended with an innings of 68 runs off 33 balls. He had a strike rate of over 206 and also slammed 7 fours and 5 sixes in his innings.

Axar Patel' effort went in vain as Delhi Capitals failed to cash on the momentum after that. Kolkata Knight Riders took the game away from the opposition even though they lost Rinku Singh early to young pacer Lizaad Williams at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Shreyas Iyer (33*) and Venkatesh Iyer (26*) played decent hands with the bag in the end. The duo added 57 runs together as Kolkata Knight Riders chased the target with 7 wickets in hand and bagged their 6th win of the IPL 2024.

Good to be contributing - Phil Salt after his heroics

Kolkata Knight Riders batter Phil Salt talked about his innings with the bat against Delhi Capitals. He lauded the team for making a comeback after they faced a disappointing loss. He also talked about his opening partnerships with Sunil Narine. He stated:

"Good to be contributing. Have had a good run in the home games. Nice that we've had continuity in conditions. Coming from the last game, to put in a performance like that from the bowlers, really pleased for them. It is high risk at times, but it's about putting the odds in your favour.

"Have to keep backing yourself and make those right options. It does (good keeping performance helps confidence?). Very helpful keeping first and see what it's doing. Gives an advantage in assessing conditions first. Sunil keeps things simple but he's a deep thinker about the game. We've dovetailed nicely in this competition. If one of us gets going, we feed the strike to them," he concluded.
