KKR vs SRH: Varun Chakravarthy termed the best spinner of IPL 2024; picked as the differentiator between 2 sides

Former batsman Aakash Chopra has backed Kolkata Knight Riders leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy to have a great outing in the IPL 2024 finale tonight.

The KKR led by Shreyas Iyer, are all set to lock horns with Pat Cummins' Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League final at the MA Chidambaram stadium. It is the very same venue in Chennai where the franchise won its maiden IPL title back in 2012 under Gautam Gambhir's captaincy. Tonight Iyer has the chance to replicate the same.

With Chennai being a good avenue for the spinners, KKR seems to have an upper hand due to the presence of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine. Both of them are in very good form this season and are also in the top 15 best bowlers of the season.

Tonight, Narine will have to contribute both with the bat and ball and Chakravarthy will have to ensure he makes the most out of his home ground in domestic cricket.

While speaking in his latest YouTube video ahead of the IPL 2024 final, Aakash Chopra heaped praise on Varun Chakravarthy, who will play his 2nd IPL final tonight. In his first final back in 2021 in Dubai, the leg-spinner and KKR had remained on the losing side against the Chennai Super Kings.

But this time around, KKR have a very good chance of winning their 3rd IPL title and first since the 2014 season. For Kolkata to complete their 3 peat, a lot will depend on the leg spin of Varun Chakravarthy. He is currently the 3rd highest wicket-taker of the season with 20 wickets from 13 matches at an economy rate of 8.19 and an average of 19.65.

Another positive thing about Varun Chakravarthy other than his red-hot form is that he will be playing the final in a ground where he has played all his life. While speaking on his video, Aakash Chopra backed the leg-spinner to have a great outing as he has a very good understanding of the surface in Chepauk.

Aakash Chopra even claimed that Varun Chakravarthy has been the best spin bowler in IPL 2024 and therefore he will focus a lot on the latter.

He will join Gautam Gambhir in the elite title-winning captains list in the richest T20 league in the world. This is also the 2nd final that Iyer will be playing as the captain.
